About Air Force Recruitment :-

The Indian Air Force (Bharatiya Vāyu Senā) is known as the air arm of the Indian military. Main task of Air Force is to keep an eye in Indian airspace to ensure security and is to conduct aerial warfare at the time of conflict. It was established on 8 October 1932 during British rule as an assisting air force of the British Empire. IAF has been played a crucial role in four wars with Pakistan and one war with People’s Republic of China. Major operations carried out by the IAF consist of Operation Vijay, Operation Cactus Operation Meghdoot, and Operation Poomalai.

Numerous military academies are set up to provide better guidance to its personnel such as Sainik Schools, Military schools, Rashtriya Indian Military College. Institution like National Defence Academy (NDA), Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), National Defence College (NDC) and the College of Defence Management (CDM) are jointly operated by three arms of armed forces to train its officers. Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) at Pune provides service training and trains all the medical staff for Armed Forces. Several exam are conducted by these institution for Air Force recruitment.

There are three branches in air force Ground Duty Branch, Aeronautical Engineering Branch, Flying Branch. Ground duty branch is responsible for managing human and material resources .As a Graduate/ Post Graduate one can join as an officer in any of the following Ground Duty Branches administration branch, accounts branch, logistics branch, education branch and meteorology branch. Aeronautical Engineering Branch is meant for technician, one can apply for this in two ways University Entry Scheme (UES) and Aeronautical Engineering Course both via AFCAT.IAF releases advertisements for AFCAT every year in the months of June and December. By joining the Flying Branch of the IAF, one can serve the country as Fighter pilot, Helicopter pilot, Transport pilot and take part in various war time and peacemaking mission’s .Graduate male can join the flying branch through the Air Force Academy by taking CDSE (COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES EXAMINATION). Its advertisements are released by UPSC in the months of June and October. The courageous boys can join the Indian Air Force family by applying for NDA (National Defence Academy). You can join NDA by taking the exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).Age limit for NDA should be between 16 ½ to 19 years . This exam is conducted twice a year in all major cities throughout India. Such Air Force recruitment advertisement is released in May and December by UPSC.

There are two type of commission exam are conducted for air force recruitment. Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission .A Permanent Commission means a life time career in the Air Force until you retire exam such as CDSE, NDA are fall in this category. Permanent Commission for women are only being considered for Women Officers of Education and Accounts Branch.A Short Service Commission provide a short duration career in the Air Force. One can become a member of IAF family as a Short Service Commission Officer by applying for a SSC Course.
