About Indian Army Recruitment :-
The Indian Army is one of the largest armed forces in the world. Its headquarters is located in Sena Bhavan and in the south block of the Red fort Delhi. Various training institute of the Indian Armed forces are, India Military Academy (IMA) – External website that opens in a new window, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) , National Defence College (NDA).Recruitment in the armed forces can be categorised into two main Commissions; Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission.A permanent commission offer a lifetime career in the army, while a short-service commission offers few-years career, after which one can opt the option to left or continue.
One can make entry in permanent commission in armed forces either by qualifying UPSC exams like NDA and CDSE. NDA exam is conducted twice a year in all major cities of India. The months of commencement of notification are January and July. This mode of entry is only male candidate between the ages of sixteen and a half to nineteen years. Announcements are made in all leading newspaper and at website www.nda.nic.in. Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE),for University graduates and final year graduates are conducted twice a year. The age limit for this is between nineteen to twenty four years. The advertisement is published in all leading newspapers and also available on www.upsc.nic.in.
The other ways to make entries in Indian army are through Non UPSC entries. Candidate does not need to appear in written exam and are directly called for SSB interview. There are many non UPSC scheme such as 10+2 Tech Entry scheme, University Entry Scheme, Technical Graduate Course.12th passed candidate having Minimum aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics can apply for this. Based on the cut off as decided by Recruiting Directorate eligible candidate are called for interview by SSB. Advertisement is published in leading newspapers/employment news in May/Dec every year. Pre final year engineering student can apply under University Entry Scheme. Its advertisement is published in newspapers/employment news in May every year. Technical graduate can join army by technical graduate course after completion of BE/B-Tech. Its notification is released in the month of May/Jun & Nov/Dec in all leading newspapers/employment news in every year.
Short Service Commission
In Short service commission candidates can make entry through following option:
A short service commission is Commenced at the Month of May and Oct./Nov each year. For it the Age of candidate at the time of joining is between 19-24 years. Candidate should have a Degree or equivalent at the time of joining the course and the mode of selection is through Combined Defence Exam (CDSE) conducted by UPSC and SSB interview Interested candidate can apply in response to advertisement in March/April & Oct./Nov.
Month of Commencement of Course for Short Service Commission (Technical) is May and Oct./Nov. Age limit is between 20-27 years. Applicant must be an Engineering graduate in notified discipline and Mode of selection is direct SSB interview .The advertisement for it is published in the month of in March/April & Oct./Nov
One can also make entry in Short Service Commission through (NCC Special Entry Scheme) the month of Commencement of Course each year is May. Age limit of course is between 19-25 years and applicant must be a Graduate with 50% aggregate marks, two years’ service in NCC Senior Div.Army with minimum ‘B’ Grade in ‘C’ Certificate Exam. Candidate are selected by direct SSB interview Advertisement is published in the month of Oct./Nov.
Women can also make their career in Indian army through Women’s Special Entry Scheme (Officers). It’s Month of Commencement is March and September, age at the time of joining the course is 19-27 years, Educational Qualification: Graduate/Post-Graduate/Engineering Graduate and Mode of selection is through Direct SSB interview. Eligible candidate can apply in response to advertisement in June/December. Indian army conduct various competitive exam for selection of its medical staff like Armed Forces Medical College Entrance Exam the advertisement regarding is published in leading dailies and at the website www.afmc.nic.in
